Long Lost Friends

My best childhood friend, who now lives in Idaho, came to live on the east coast in Virginia this summer so her husband could sell security systems. We were so excited to be on the same side of the country again, even if temporarily. We decided we had to see each other for sure. Last week, they called us up and asked if we wanted weekend company. Who could refuse?? We said heck yes! and they were here within 24 hours, along with their two beautiful little girls.

For the most part, we just kicked back and enjoyed visiting while the kids ran wild. Everyone made themselves at home, and somehow Mike avoided the camera. Next time he won't get off so easily.

Monday night, we picked up pizza and went out to the park to play. The kids fed the crusts to the ducks, since no one wanted to eat them. Little Caesars is kind of like that, I guess. Afterwards, we went to Bruster's for ice cream. That place is heaven-sent, and I'm convinced their ice cream can solve any problem! Anyway, after ice cream we had a photo shoot with the kids in their pajamas. I don't even want to think about how old they'll be next time they see each other!

Once the kiddos were tucked in and supposedly sleeping, the guys had a very serious war on Wii Sports Resort, while Diana taught me the finer points of nail stamping. So much fun! I can't wait to buy a set and use it from now on.

And of course, we had to make up for lost time with a few of our olden time antics. It's comforting to know some things will never change!

We had the best time, and didn't want to say goodbye! I am so thankful for good friends- the kind you can go without seeing for a long while, but every time you talk or visit you can pick up right where you left off. Friends like this make life worth living!
